Bow Valley Power

Local. Reliable. Sustainable.

Bow Valley Power was founded in the spring of 2010. We have enjoyed excellent growth since launching, with customers in over 120 communities in Alberta. Bow Valley Power is Alberta’s only boutique electricity retailer that provides both traditional and EcoLogo certified green power to our customers. We have some of Alberta’s best electricity rates.

How are we different?

We feel strongly about providing great electricity rates, appreciating our customers, and reducing the impact our electricity has on our environment through education and action. We believe in being a good corporate citizen. Did you know that Alberta’s electricity is the most polluting in Canada? Or that the Green House Gas Emissions produced from electricity generation is equivalent to what is generated from oilsands?

It’s these little known facts that has given Bow Valley Power a strong mandate to educate Albertan’s and increase the awareness of the importance of green power.

Since becoming EcoLogo certified early in 2012 our list of green power buyers has been steadily increasing – Albertan’s are happy to support a local Albertan business, which stands for a greener power grid.

Calgary Regional Airshed Zone

Clean Air – Why Bother

The Banff Marathon Sustainability program is more than just picking up litter and placing it in the right can. As a runner, after a course and a timing system perhaps the air we breathe is the next most important element.

The Calgary Region Airshed Zone ( CRAZ) http://www.craz.ca is responsible for ensuring the air you breath in the Bow Valley is the cleanest you may enjoy anywhere in world.

This state of the art mobile laboratory can “sniff” the air and measure the most common atmospheric pollutants that cause or aggravate respiratory illnesses.  CRAZ will be at the 2015 Banff Marathon with their Mobile Air Monitoring Laboratory (MAML).

The Banff Marathon Sustainability program will ensure over the life of the event that the air in Banff is the cleanest and freshest of any major marathon in the world.
Come explore the MAML – ask the technicians questions and help us spread the word…

Many events are finding ways to reduce the overall amount of garbage and recyclables they produce. Give a smile and a cheer to the event organizers and their volunteers who consistently step up and model responsible waste management in our community. They are all “ZERO HEROS“.
